Although Hollywood is famous for movies and TV shows, much of the industry has moved other areas, including Burbank and Santa Clarita, and of course New York City. But Hollywood retains its identity as the movie capital of the world with the annual Academy Awards at the Kodak Theater. Plus many related industries (such as film editing and post-production facilities) remain in the area. Hollywood is also home to many recording labels, including Capital Records with its distinctive Capital Tower building (shaped like a stack of old vinyl records).
The Hollywood Walk of Fame along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street has more than 2,000 stars implanted in the sidewalks and remains very popular among tourists. The stars feature the names of celebrities from 5 areas in the entertainment industry: motion pictures, TV, radio, music, and performance/live theater.
Near Hollywood is Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk Hollywood. Visitors can spend the day at Universal Studios touring movie and TV sets, watching various shows and productions, and learning how movies and TV shows are made. CityWalk combines shopping, entertainment, and dining in one concentrated area and is very popular at night.
