Anaheim is a city in Orange County, California, known as the 54th largest city and also one of the safest cities in American. It is located southeast of Los Angeles, along the coast of Santa Ana. It was established by German families in 1857 as a local community that became a city 19 years later in 1876. The settlers voted to call the community Annaheim, which later changed slightly to Anaheim, meaning 'Home by the Santa Ana River' in German.
Anaheim developed into an industrial center, founded by grape farmers and winemakers from Franconia, Bavaria. Although the grape industry was destroyed in the 1880s, Anaheim is home to the world famous Disneyland constructed in July 17, 1955, which has since become Anaheim's largest tourist attraction. The expansion of Disneyland resort, a grouping of theme parks and hotels that offer a variety of entertainment and comfort for a moderate price, is the main attraction to vistors today.
The city of Anaheim recognized their city as a resort epicenter with the expansion of Disneyland resort in the 1990s that followed with the creation of Anaheim Resort. Anaheim Resort includes Disneyland Resort, the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim Stadium (home of the Angels baseball team and later home of the Rams football team), the major assets of Anaheim city. In addition, there is the Bowers Museum, a well-known museum for the exhibition of art masterpieces, sited in Anaheim that is also the representative museum of Orange County.
