California Missions
The history of California started with the Spanish missions. The unique historical remains of these missions cannot be seen anywhere else in America. Starting from the father of missions, Junipero Serra (1713-1784), Spanish Franciscan priests started to build missions in California along the Pacific coastal line from San Diego all the way up north to San Francisco near Sonoma (approx. 900 km.).
